She also taught private piano students for a number of years, and wrote several books of piano teaching pieces which have been published by Kjos Publishing Company. James Martin was a designer for Systems Research Laboratories in Beavercreek, Ohio, before his retirement. He also served for a number of years on the Mad River Township (Montgomery County) Volunteer Fire Department, and served as Chief of the department.
