  Notes	Joseph Baldwin went from Chester County, Pennsylvania, to Loudoun County, Virginia, in 1773. He is thought to have served in the Revolutionary War. There is a record of a Joseph Baldwin who served as a Private in Captian Abel Westfall's Company of the 8th Virginia Regiment from 25 May 1776 to 30 April 1777, when he was reported to have deserted. Though the background of this Baldwin family was probably Quaker, there is almost no mention of them in Loudoun County Friends records. A single entry for 28 September 1783, shows that a Joseph Baldwin was received on request at Fairfax Monthly Meeting (now Waterford). Joseph Baldwin, Jr., must have inherited his father's lands in Shenandoah County. He apparently lived in Shenandoah County until at least 1818, when he moved to Shenango Township, Beaver (now Lawrence) County, Pennsylvania.
