- Frances O'Donnell Prugh's obituary in the Springfield Sun-News reads: "Frances Lucille (Strayer) Prugh, 87, a lifelong resident of Springfield, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 16, 1996, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Mrs. Prugh was born December 7, 1908, the daughter of John and Olive (Hauk) O'Donnell. She worked in the office of the Springfield Metallic Casket Company for more than thirty years. She was a member of the Church of God and worshipped at Hillside Avenue, where she was the First Secretary, taught Sunday School in the Primary Department for over thirty-five years, served on the Board of Christian Education, the Music Commitee, sang in the choir, and played the piano. She was also active in the Women's Auxiliary at Community Hospital and at Pillars Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willard L. Strayer in 1959; her second husband, Clarence E. Prugh in 1980; her only sister, Nellie Cotter in 1970; and her nephew, John L. Cotter in 1971. Survivors include a stepson, Chester W. Prugh (Madge) of Springfield; a nephew, Dr. Harry L. Cotter, Jr., (Alena) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and his family; a niece, Grace E. Beerhorst (Andrew) also of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and her family; her niece, Harriett L. Cotter; and her great-nieces and great-nephews and their families in the Cotter family of Springfield. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Jackson Lytle & Ingling Williams Funeral Home, North Limestone Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hillside Avenue Church of God with the Reverends George L. Reed, Carl Reynolds, and L. Brent Farmer officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Interment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Frances's memory to the Hillside Avenue Church of God Memorial Fund."
