  Notes	John J. Mason and his brother William went from North Carolina to Arkansas with their families in 1858. They settled in what is now known as Mason Valley in Benton County, Arkansas. They were very prosperous farmers and built large, two-story houses, one of which, about 1/4 mile south of the Mason Valley Baptist Church, was still standing in the 1970s. All of the older members of the family are buried in the Coffelt Cemetery, about 1 1/2 miles north of Mason Valley Baptist Church.
