Notes |
- On Jessie Helen Duff's birth record, Ann's place of birth was stated to be Ireland. In June 1897, Ann Nolan Duff returned to Scotland, presumably to visit her mother and other relatives. Traveling with James and Letitia Hutchison, the in-laws of her daughter Mary, she sailed on the ship State of Nebraska on 5 June and arrived in Glasgow on 14 June. She remained in Scotland until late August 1897, sailing home on 25 August on the ship City of Rome and arriving in New York on 5 September. Her nationality was listed as Scottish on the outgoing passenger list and as Irish on the return passenger list. When she arrived in New York on her return trip, she declared that she had $5.00 and a ticket to her final destination, Cleveland.
