Notes |
- Elie, the second child of Vivien Jean and Suzanne H?rault, was married at Qu?bec on 20 January 1676 to Marie Gagn? or Gagnesse, whose father was a tavern-keeper in the La Rochelle area. They had five children of whom only two were married: Madeleine, to Pierre Elie and Pierre, to Marie-Catherine Blondeau, widow of Nicolas Sarrazin, to whom she had born ten children. She would have three more. Following her death in early November 1728, Pierre married another widow, Anne-Louise Dubeau, widow of Jean Sigouin. Elie and his son Pierre added a "dit" or cognomen to their name: Godon. Their surname thus became Jean dit Godon.
