854 | Thomas Bryan, Jr., home Note on back by Clarence Ray Bryan, Jr.: "View looking north or north by west in afternoon. Home of Thomas Bryan, Jr., my great grandfather, and the boyhood home of Augustus Grogan Bryan, my grandfather. The house was constructed of hewn logs but was covered with boards when I first saw it. Now (1981) it's asbestos shingled. The two chimneys are original. The house sits 5 miles east and a little south of LaFayette, Georgia, on the Alabama Rd. (The distance by Catlett and the present road is 7 miles.) The original land, probably 160 acres, was probably 'bounty' land for service in War of 1812 and/or Creek wars." | |||
