The witnesses on the marriage register were Patt Kielly (Kelly?) and Biddy Noland, probably Catherine's sister Bridget. They probably paid 14 shillings to be married. Francis and Catherine Nolan left Ireland for Scotland sometime between 1844 and 1847. In 1861, the family was living at 170 Shuttlefield Close, Perth, and Francis was described as an agricultural laborer. In 1871, the family was living at 103 South Street in Perth. Francis' age was listed as 54. Francis became a member of the Archconfraternity of the Holy Family at his church, St. John the Baptist, Perth, on 29 July 1877. At the time of the 1881 census, the family was living at New Building, Scott Street, Perth West Church, Perth, Scotland. Francis was listed as an unemployed laborer. In addition to Francis and Catherine, others living at the address included their son, Joseph (mason's laborer), daughter Mary (mill worker), daughter Margaret (mill worker), and daughter Catherine (mill worker).
