    Notes:

    John and Jane Turner moved to Ray County, Missouri, after their marriage. The Turner Cemetery is in Fishing River Township, southwest of Route 10, between Excelsior Springs and Elkhorn, Missouri. John Turner served in the army during the War of 1812, having enlisted in March of 1813.

    Notes:

    John Turner's will was probated in Madison County, Kentucky, in 1814. He was a Revolutionary War soldier, serving as a sergeant in the 1st North Carolina Regiment. He lived in Rowan County, North Carolina. He is probably the grandfather of the John Turner, born 1794, who married Jane West, but it is not known through which wife or son, although it was most likely his first wife, Rebecca Smith.

    Notes:

    Andrew Smith was in Rowan County, North Carolina, by 21 July 1764, when they purchased land there. His will was drawn 14 December 1773, and probated in Rowan County in 1775. On 3 March 1762, Andrew Smith witnessed the will of John McQuire in Rowan County. Andrew's will names a brother, James, his wife, Annate, sons Thomas, Cornelius, and Andrew (under 21), daughters Catherine, Rebeckah Turner, grandson Andrew Turner, in addition to mentioning John Turner and Samuel Freeman. The witnesses to the will were William Moores, David Gage, and Chloe Smith.
