  Notes	There are two documents that provide evidence of Temperance Spearman being the daughter of Andrew and Mary Spearman. An 1824 power-of-attorney recorded in Barnwell District, South Carolina, referred to Edward Spearman (Temperance's brother) being the uncle of Solomon Lee's sons. Since Edward Spearman's will indicated that his wife was not a Lee and therefore not Solomon Lee's sister, the nephew-uncle relationship would have to mean that Edward Spearman's sister was married to Solomon Lee. A second record which implies that Edward Spearman, and therefore his sister, were children of Andrew and Mary Spearman is found in the minutes of the March 1765 term of New Hanover County court in which Edward Spearman qualified as administrator of the estate of Andrew Spearman. It was customary for a son to serve as administrator when the deceased died intestate.
