- On his second marriage license, Samuel stated that his parents were Samuel Baldwin and Louisa Romine. On his death record, his son stated that Samuel's parents were William Baldwin and Sarah Romine. Based on an 1844 Muskingum County, Ohio, court case, the parents listed here are most likely correct.

In his later years, he lived in the Danville, Indiana, National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers.
