- Lafayette Baldwin served in Company I, 16th Regiment, Pennsylvania Cavalry during the Civil War. He farmed his father's farm in Shenango Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. He served as county assessor, county auditor, and county treasurer for Lawrence County. The family belonged to the Center United Presbyterian Church, where Lafayette served as Clerk of Session.
