James William Kohn, Sr, 72, of 2688 Tecumseh Ave, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in his residence following one and a half years failing health and five months of serious illness. He was born May 3, 1894 in Ross County, the son of James N and Sarah Van Gundy Kohn and had resided in Springfield for the past 50 years. Before retirement seven years ago, he had been an employee of the White Diesel Motor Company for 37 years. Mr Kohn was a member of the Eastside Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ada Dunlap Kohn; three sons, JamesW Jr, and David E both of Springfield and Linn E of San Miguel, Mexico; four daughters, Mrs Richard (Julia) Tuvell of New Carlisle, Mrs William (Mary) Harwood and Mrs Carl (Faith) Dunn, both of Springfield, and Mrs Karl (Joanna) Swords of Mt Morris, Michigan; 22 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; three sisters; Mrs Lulu Hertenstein, Mrs John Miller, and Miss Minnie Kohn, all of Ross County; four brothers, Fred (Doc) Everett of Springfield, John , Omar, and Elijah Kohn, all of Ross county; and a number of nieces and nephews. His body was taken to the Littleton funeral home.
