  Notes	Ruth Brown Baldwin was cited by the Goose Creek Friends Meeting, Loudoun County, on 29 April 1813, for marrying out of unity. Her acknowledgement was accepted later that same year. At the time of the 1850 Census, she was living in Loudoun County with her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Jonah Tavenner. She was living with her son, Mahlon K. Baldwin, in Philomont, Virginia, as late as 1874. The Telephone, a Loudoun County, Virginia, newspaper, reported on 16 May 1890, that Ruth, "mother of the late Dr. M.K. Baldwin, is visiting her grandson, Dr. L.L. Chamblin. She is in her 97th year." Dr. Chamblin lived in Philomont, Loudoun County, Virginia. Her obituary in the Thursday, 3 December 1891, edition of The Mirror, another Loudoun County newspaper, reads: Died: On the 20th of November 1891, at the residence of her grandson, Maj. John M. Chamblin, Mrs. Ruth Baldwin, aged 98y. She was born on 23 November 1793, mother of nine children, seven of them living to be men and women. Of her four sons, two died in the Mexican war, one went to California, and died during the "gold fever" period, and Dr. M.K. Baldwin, a physician in this county until his death. Her three daughters were the wives of Col. Jonah Tavenner and Franklin Ewers and Jno. L. Chamblin. All these children preceded her as did her husband, Mahlon Baldwin, who left her a widow 58 years ago. She has now living 15 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She retained her mind almost to the very last.
