- In 1861, Henry Troutman enlisted in Company A, 28th Kentucky Federal Infantry, under Col. W. P. Boone, and he served until the end of the war. He participated in all the engagemants of General Sherman. After the war, he worked in the hotel business in Sheperdsville, Kentucky, and as a telegraph operator with the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. He was also postmaster of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, in 1897.
