    • Joshua L. Magruder was born either in Brooke County or Marshall County, (West) Virginia. He enlisted in the Union Army on 7 August 1862, at Wheeling , West Virginia, and served as a private, corporal, and sergeant in Company H, 15th Regiment, West Virginia Volunteer Infantry. He was discharged at Richmond, Virginia, on 14 June 1865. In his service records, he is described as being 5'10", with gray eyes, light hair, and a light complexion. After the war, he lived for six years at Sabina, Clinton County, Ohio, and then moved to Fayette County, Ohio. He was a brick mason and farmer, and died while working on his farm near Milledgeville, Fayette County, Ohio.
