  Burial	Obeth Cemetery, Lake James State Park, Burke County, North Carolina, USA Obeth Cemetery is located in a very remote area in Lake James State Park. To access this cemetery, travel down a well-kept dirt/gravel road keeping to the left; the cemetery is to the right in a wooded area. There are no signs or markers available to identify the site. From 181 North, turn left at Independence Blvd., and then right on 126. Travel 17.3 miles to dirt road 1281 and turn left. Cemetery is approximately 2 miles on left side of this road. Old church site is across from the cemetery on right side of road.
  Notes	John Gibbs was a minister. In 1780, while a resident of Burke County, North Carolina, he enlisted in the army and served three months in Captain Clark's Company. In 1781, he enlisted again and served three months in Captain John Conley's Company. He received a pension in 1844 for his service during the Revolution. After their marriage, the Gibbs family settled in the Lovelady Ford section of the Catawba River, which was then in Rowan County, North Carolina.
