  	An obituary for James Burns Magruder appeared in The Cyclone and Fayette Republican on 19 January 1893. It reads: James B. Magruder was born February 22, 1848, married Miss Elizabeth E. Spindler December 24, 1872. Deceased had been a long and patient sufferer, and at the last moment of dissolution of this earthly life, he exclaimed to his beloved wife, and only daughter Lena, "Ma, don't worry. I am going home." We, as a community, feel the loss deeply, and mingle our sorrow with those deared to him in life and most precious in death - wife and daughter. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.A. Monson.

  Notes	James Magruder ran a grocery store and restaurant in Milledgeville, Ohio, and served as the mayor of the village in the 1880s. He also served as a justice of the peace and a magistrate for Fayette County, Ohio. After the death of James Magruder in 1892, his wife, Elizabeth, married Jacob Dice. She is buried in the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery, Fayette County, Ohio. James Magruder's daughter, Lena, gave his birthplace as Maryland in the 1920 and 1930 censuses.
