Back of picture has the following note, written by Clarence Ray Bryan, Jr.: "His right hand holds a silver dollar given him by his grandmother (Thomasin Grogan Bryan) to be good while his picture was being taken. It was at this time he lived in Trion, Ga., and a trip to Chattanooga would likely have been made by train. His grandmother lived 5 miles east of Lafayette on the farm. His father was a buyer for the Trion Mills (cotton). |
