Background

I have been interested in genealogy for many, many years, at least as early as 1960. For about 15 years now I have been using Brother's Keeper genealogy software. I've tried just about all of them, and I think Brother's Keeper is the best, with unrivalled customer support. The Internet has proven to be quite a boon to genealogists, and hopefully you will find the information at my genealogy website to be of interest to you. I used The Next Generation to build the website, and again, the customer support from the developer is wonderful.

Origins

The Martin family originated in France, our immigrant ancestor being Jacques Martin, who left France for Quebec around 1760. My great-great-grandfather, Maxime Martin, left Canada and settled in Rhode Island in the late 1860s. The Bryan family's origins are a little more obscure, but they are probably of Irish origin.

The person who has nothing to brag about but their ancestors is like a potato; the best part of them is underground. - Sir Thomas Overbore

As with most American families, our background is varied, with ancestors coming mainly from

  • France
  • Ireland
  • Wales
  • Scotland
  • Germany
