It may have been that the license was issued on 5 June 1882. In an article printed in the 4 April 1886 Springfield Daily Republic, George Cotter and Jennie Kershner are included in a list of people "whose certificates of marriage have never been returned to the probate court". Miss Jennie Kershner is also mentioned in several newspapers articles from the late 1880s. There is also a marriage record for a Jennie Kershner and George Klein in Clark County, Ohio, from 1893.
