Livingston, 85, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 in Maranatha Village.He
was born November 16, 1932 in Ava, Missouri, to Fred and Elva (Souder)
Livingston. Many knew him as Fred and others as Souder, his motherâ™s maiden
name. Fred lived in many different places in Ava. He worked at Harold
Hutchisonâ™s service station and also delivered ice to people at home. He lived
in the old jail when his dad was the Deputy Sheriff, and his mother cooked for
the prisoners. He lived in Jefferson City when his dad worked in the license
plate division of the state prison. He also lived in Corcoran, CA, and Buckhart
in Douglas County. He graduated from Ava High School in 1951. He enjoyed playing
all sports, was center on the Ava basketball team, and he played on the first
football team during 1948-1951. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the
Korean War. He married JoAnn Willhoit on August 11, 1953 in Ava. To this union
two sons were born, Dennis and Douglas. They lived in California while Fred was
in the service and then moved to Springfield where he worked for Kraft Foods,
owned and operated Mansfield Express, and worked as a car salesman at Dennis
Hanks Chevrolet in Ozark. He became a Christian at the Ava General Baptist
Church and was baptized in Cowskin Creek west of Ava. He joined the First
General Baptist Church in Springfield where he taught Sunday School for many
years. He was deacon for several of those years. He enjoyed his family, singing,
playing music, story-telling, and fun-loving times with his many friends. He was
a member of Henderson Masonic Lodge in Rogersville, the York Rite, Red Cross of
Constantine, and a 33rd Degree member of Scottish Rite in Joplin. He
participated in the ritual and funeral cast of these organizations. He was
preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Melba Bogart, twins Reba
Hutchison and Freda Manis, and a brother, Robert âœBobâ Livingston. He is
survived by his wife of 64 years, JoAnn; two sons and spouses, Rev. Dennis and
Theresa (Cline) Livingston of Hutchinson, KS, and their son, Clancey and his
wife Virginia of Manhattan, KS; Doug and Karen (Satterfield) Livingston and
their son, Austin, all of Springfield; first cousin, Doran Livingston of
Willard; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Visitation
will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 with masonic services
beginning at 7:30 p.m., at J.D.Lee and Sons Funeral Home, 7405 E. Ferrell Lane,
across from Gordonâ™s Store, Rogersville. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m.
Friday, December 22, 2017 in the funeral home. Burial, with military honors,
will follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, Springfield. Memorial donations may
be made to the First General Baptist Church, 1400 W. Walnut, Springfield, MO

Springfield, MO 65808, or the charity of your choice.
