    • Marie Duteau was twenty years old at her marriage, and a Huguenot emigrant from la Rochelle, but she must have converted to Catholicism when she married. She was one of the women known in New France as the "Filles á Marier", or "marriageable girls". She arrived in New France in 1658 aboard the ship Prince-Guillaume, along with her mother and brother, Charles.
