- Susannah Baldwin Hickman must have been widowed at an early age, as she appears alone on the 1831 tax list for Big Beaver Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. (This township became part of Lawrence County when it was created in 1849.) In the 1850 census, she was living with the family of Pressly McKinzie of Big Beaver Township. He may have been a son-in-law. Susannah may have lived for a time in Muskingum County, Ohio. The Salt Creek Baptist Church of Muskingum County recorded a member by that name from 1816 to 1818. At that time, the family of her cousin, Samuel Baldwin, was affiliated there.
