From David Talley: On March 9, 1916, Lawrence, and a brother in law, William Claude Martin, announced that they were "going to join the army." They left Polk County, TN on foot for Atlanta and have not been heard from since. All efforts to locate them have proved to be fruitless. There are no know records on the two. There is no record of them enlisting in the Army.
