- Richard Cotter was a ward of James E. Milner at the time of the 1930 census, living at the Ohio State I.O.O.F. home in Springfield, Ohio, with his brother Rodger and sister Margaret. Richard Cotter was living in Springfield in 1966. His obituary states: "COTTER, Richard W. 90, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007, in St. John's Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness. He was born September 16, 1916, the son of the late Hugh and Helen (Barrett) Cotter. He served in the United States Army of Engineers in the Pacific Theater, during World War II. He served as Chairman of Local Union 658, and retired as a supervisor from Navistar after 44 years of service. He was a mason for 63 years, a member of the Clark Lodge No. 101 Free and Accepted Masons, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Ephriam Lodge 146 and a member of Navistar Retired Management Club. Richard was raised in the Odd Fellows Home and attended their annual picnic for years, lastly 2005 in a wheelchair. He was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jean C. (Limle) Cotter, brother-in-law, Roger C Limle; four sisters, Janet, Louise, Margaret, Della Jean; four brothers, Hugh, John, Robert and Rodger. He is survived by his sister-in-law, June (Lemle) Bajai, his very special friend, Bob Bajai; one niece, Melodye Limle; two nephews, Doug (Lisa) Cotter of Noblesville, Indiana, and Rex (Julie) Cotter of Indianapolis, Indiana. Graveside services will be in Ferncliff Cemetery, Friday, March 23, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Bill McKee officiating. JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, is handling arrangements. Donations may be made in Richard's memory to Good Shepherd Evangelical Church, 721 North Fountain, Springfield, Ohio 45504. On behalf of Richard W. Cotter, the family wishes to thank the staff nurses and all the caregivers at St. John's Nursing Home for their loving care and support shown to him, especially to his buddy and longtime friend, Misty Brewer, and to Bonnie Snow, a lifelong friend, who called on him faithfully every week.
