938 | Military and Pension Record of Thomas S. Magruder Thomas S. Magruder served in the United States Army during the Civil War. He enlisted on 10 October 1861, and served as a sergeant in Company L, 6th Regiment, West Virginia Volunteer Infantry. He was appointed a First Lieutenant in Company A, 12th Regiment, West Virginia Volunteer Infantry, on 18 July 1862. He was apparently discharged in late 1862 or early 1863, as he again enlisted in Wheeling, West Virginia, on 2 December 1863, and served as a private and sergeant in Company I, 15th Regiment, West Virginia Volunteer Infantry. He was later transferred to Company I, 10th Regiment. He was mustered out on 16 August 1865, at Wheeling. | |||
