Jane Mabry Bryan is mentioned in the 15 November 1897 issue of the Walker County Messenger: "Mrs. Mack Bryan died at the home of her son-in-law, Cicero McWhorter. It is thought that while smoking her pipe, she fell asleep and her clothers caught fire. She was burned to a crisp."Jane married William McDooley Bryan on 31 Dec 1847.
