George F. Resele
World War II veteran was Kopen Beverage manager
George F. Resele of 119 Buhl Boulevard, Sharon, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday (10-17-12) in Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center, after a long illness. He was 87.
Mr. Resele was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Sharon, a son of Steve and Pearl Dickerson Resele.
He was a 1943 graduate of Sharon High School.
George was a member of East Side Church (Baptist-Disciples of Christ), Sharon.
George retired from Kopen Beverage Co., where he was manager 40 years and retired in 1987.
Mr. Resele was a World War II Army veteran having served in the European-African-Middle East theater. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, World War II Victory Medal and European-African-Middle East Medal. He was past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1338, Sharon, and of Mercer County Council of VFW.
One of Georges pastimes was auto racing.
He is survived by: his wife, Esther A. Barnes, whom he married Jan. 29, 1947, at the residence; a son, Kevin G. Resele and his wife Linda, Sharon; his grandchildren, Sean Resele and his wife Nikki; Erin Resele and her fiancé Ed Hedglin; Alicia Stanger and her husband Cristopher; and Mariah DiRaimondo; and his great-grandson, Ryan Connor Resele.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kathleen Leonard.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to time of service Saturday (10-20-12) in HAROLD W. STEVENSON FUNERAL HOME, 264 E. State St., Sharon.
Service: Funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Williams, interim pastor of East Side Church (Baptist-Disciples of Christ), Sharon, officiating.
Interment: Cremains in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage, with military rites conducted by the Sharon Honor Guard.
