JOAN COTTER FOGARTY LUNDAHL died at home in Houston on August 1, 2003. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Henry Fogarty, who died in 1982, and her stepdaughter, Susan Lundahl Blee. A redhead, Joan was born in Chicago on St. Patrik's Day, 1915. She is survived by her husband, Herbert Thorp Lundahl, three children and their spouses, Garrett Cotter Fogarty and his wife, Suzanne, of Dallas, Caryn Fogarty Tebbe andher husband, Graham, of Houston, and Gail Fogarty Phares and her husband, Don, of Morro Bay, California, and two stepsons, Jeffrey Lundahl and wife, Suzanne, of Glenbrook, Nevada, and Robert Lundahl of San Francisco. Also surviving her are five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren. Joan grew up in Evanston, Illinois, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma at Northwestern University. She married Bill Fogarty in 1937, and in 1945 the family moved to Dallas. Joan and Bill and their family were very early members of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, where she was a member for 38 years, teaching Sunday school and serving on the Altar Guild. Joan married Herb in 1984 and moved to Cyprus Shore in San Clemente, California. There, Joan was active in St. Margaret's Episcopal Church,The Assistance League, and The Woman's Auxiliary at South Coast Medical Center in San Juan Capistrano. She poured her enthusiasm for life into entertaining and organizing events for her friends and family. Joan's love of fun, wit, intelligence, style, and compassion will be missed by all of those who knew her. A memorial service in celebration of Joan's life will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 4:00 PM, at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas, Houston.
