- Clarence Ray Bryan enlisted in the United States Army on July 19, 1941, and served in the Air Corps. His enlistment record indicates that he had four years of college and had worked in civilian life as a recording engineer and as an electrician. He was stationed in London, England, during World War II, where he worked in radar. He left the Army Air Corps on 31 December 1945. He later served as the Assistant for Research and Technology in the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory, Flight Control Division, and also served as Assistant Director of the Flight Dynamics Laboratory.
